Today "C-boy" returns to college...very sad...but he will be back in 2 1/2 weeks at the Christmas (Winter) break...yippie!

He was upset on Saturday, his football teammates lost their 1/4 final game.  It was a tough match, the "boys" played well, just not good enough for the win...."C-boy" is now ready to get his shoulder back in shape for Spring training...They are truly an excellent team of players, the coaches are great motivators, and the school is a true supporter!  Way To Go Patriots 2008 Mid Southeast Conference Champs!!!!! Great Season!

 

Eggnog & Mulled Cider

The "boys" didn't get the decorating done...maybe, maybe they almost got it started...that's giving them a lot of credit....lol

Is opening the Christmas tree boxes, spreading some stuff around qualify for starting???? So guess what I'm doing today...gone are the traditions of yesteryear...New traditions will be enacted today! I will put the Christmas music on, "redecorate" the new digs...AGAIN!

Maybe I'll drink eggnog (spike of course) or mulled cider, or Kalua, or some chilled bubbly I have in the refrigerator. "Hubby" bought the bottle to celebrate our purchase of the new home, we never opened it...lol

Whilst I "redecorate", (drink)... I have laundry, cleaning, and anything else that could possibly be put on my plate....Oh yes, the "men folk" will want their grub later this afternoon...If they have any intelligence at all, (doubtful college football on the tube) they will offer me the meal....let's see how that goes...any bets? No, I didn't think so...lol

I love decorating for the holidays...It's the other 25 million jobs I hate!

Last night my assistant ("cboy") and I made pies...

These are my 1st pies ever!  Pretty good I must say!  I was busy in the kitchen for 5 hrs...first I had to make dinner, next I baked the pies, then made a cheese ball and relish tray for today..whew!  I'm glad it's over, now I can just enjoy the whole day!

We are going to play in the lake,  do a little fishing, jetski, ...sit in the sun get some rays, and relax! 

On Wednesday I did some shopping. I bought 2 Adirondack chairs to put outside our home...I went to Kirklands (love that store!!)  got a couple new pictures...warming up the new home!  The boys got their hair cuts...(way over due)..now they look manly again!  "Cboy" needed new running shoes.

Friday while I'm ate work the "boys" are to put the Christmas trees together, and decorate.  Seems all I'm doing is cleaning up, tearing down, and cleaning up again...can't wait to get settle in the new digs...lol

Yippie!  I have today off...."Collegeboy" is in town...he & eldest are getting their hair cuts today...beasts!  lol

Then we'll shop, found a new burger joint to eat lunch...it's called 5 guys burger & fries...they make "real" fries,..yum yum!

If I'm not in too much pain I'll start my pies for tomorrow...I have to check on my relish items, might have to stop at the g'store for more food...I don't like bringing "collegeboy" on these trips, he wants everything!!!!!!

We are back to our normal weather...finally I think I had to wear b'jeans with a long sleeve shirt for about a week straight!  We should be in the 77 range today, sounds like shorts & flip flops to me!

After turkey day we'll be putting the Christmas trees up...we have 3...One in the living room, one will be in the media room (family), the last one might just have to stay in the box this year..If our lanai was bigger I would put him out there...next year perhaps!  We decorate one tree with all angels ornaments to remember our loved ones who are no longer with us...It started 10 years ago, with the death of my sister.  We don't need a Xmas tree to remind us, believe me you never forget, but we use it to share a Christmas with them....

Enough said...I got to get ready or the "boys" will drive me nuts!

this doesn't seem enough...especially if it is so simple, relatively easy, deep in meaning.  We say thank you, everyday or we should to complete strangers, family members, animals when they do things we like.  It's polite, manners tells us we should be courteous towards others.  Yet to pray, say "Thank you" to our Lord?  Is it so easy as that? 

Yes, because he doesn't expect any more!  He has made it simple, we are the ones who have added complications.

Just another beautiful day in the neighborhood....

I forgot to mention the other night.  We got to see the space shuttle flying off into space.  It was truly awesome, I grab my camera, run outside started taking pics.  I see the burners on the shuttle glowing in the dark lit sky... click, click, click..strange?...click, click, I look the camera again, click, click...what the? I see nothing, zilch, nada, zero..cept' this little itty bitty dot, speck really...I was going to download my speck, but I figured you've seen specks before why would you even believe my speck was the shuttle?  I probably took 6 or 7 frames.lol.. I love digital, if I had "real" film in the camera, you know I wouldn't be clicking away...

Nothing to report at work today, the customers were actually pleasant...must have been the chilly weather...cooled the tempers down...lol.    One funny moment tho to report...as I was cashing someone out, there was a women sitting in the corner, that was chained off, probably waiting for her spouse to finish shopping, anyway my customer asks...Is that where you put the customers when they've done something wrong? lol...my reply, Yep, she didn't buy anything, we grabbed her before she reached her car & strapped her in...so, you better keep the economy going, or we'll send you to the "chair"...lol, the guy behind him says, that's true, they got me last week....LOL!  Such customer service eh?  I should be up for employee of the month.....LOL!

Ok, I've gone on long enough...time to mingle with the family a while...

It'd downright ccccoldd....

I decided to listen to our local "weather-person" (meteorologist)last night. I switched from A/C to heat (very unfamiliar) just to be safe. It's chilling to the bone...a whopping 42 out. I'm not opening my windows today! We aren't expected to reach 70. I know! I hear ya...how terrible is that!....lol

I've got my trusty fake fireplace (heater) turned on..every imaginable thermal I could find, and a blanket! I might have to break out the mittens & ear muffs...lol

Ok, you guys have had enough! I know, I'm just down right spoiled now...but, today there is no "tropics" in FL.... I think everyone up north decided to huff & puff and blow the wind down here...Well, it worked! It's going to hang around for a couple of days, but we might be back to norm this weekend...It's really exciting to break out the hoodies & jeans in the closet. They get so little wear anymore....on to a new subject...

I was requested to bake (2) pies & provide a relish tray, for Thanksgiving this year, our contribution! I like this idea, really eases the stress of the large event. We'll be gathering together with "sis", her in-laws, family & friends. There should be a total of ......27! I think this qualifies as a "gaggle", maybe flock?

The biggest group I have ever enjoyed turkey day with, previously were 18 - 20. I have no idea on flatware, plates, etc...I'm just keeping my nose clear of the "kitchen" area. I think I'll help with the clean up! Least I can do, bringing only 2 pies, and some olives.....lol

"Sis" came over today, with her handy dandy sewing machine, remade our curtains for the family room,  & assisted with the décor.  After the shuffle of furniture, pictures, tables, etc...around we decided more shopping is needed...lol.  All the stuff I'm tossing out, and I need more...

Hubby was confused by the whole process, but it's what the rooms are calling for....lol

It's now starting to feel like home.  Adding pictures to the walls, hanging curtains certainly warms a house.  Downsizing was the best decision.  It was very tempting in the down market to purchase a house that we would stay in until the market turned, but, I'm very glad we decided on this home.  I'm still reminding myself that I love the view!...lol  Speaking of which in my last post, some had questioned on the picture below...

 

this really is our view... This is sunrise on Oct 26, 2008..very beautiful.  This is why I will live with the lack of storage space...

"Eldest" & I are feeling much better.  The head cold, had a wave effect one day up, next down...I'm still going to Nitequil tonight just to be on the extra safe side...

Time to put a lil grub on the table..and call it a day!

How much (useless) stuff could we possibly have??  I know we were loaded to the gills with junk, but now that we decided to "downsize" only a 1/2 bath, & maybe 500 sq ft...I feel we have lost a total of 3000 sq ft, cuz of the junk we have accumulated over the years...

I'm almost unpacked...we have no closet space in our new home..(love the view), we lost a guest bath, (love the view) we lost extra linen closet,(love the view).  Why did we purchase this home???  Oh, yeah...LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THE VIEW! 

Yes, it certainly is worth getting rid of all the useless stuff..

Tomorrow I have "sis" coming over to assist with the décor...I'm in a pickle, I have no idea what to put where...usually I'm pretty good with this end of the deal, but for some reason my brain is all mush..It will be great to have assistance, and her rate is reasonable too...I can get away with a lunch date...lol

Hubby is still working on the garage...he has bought more shelves...I have to put him on Lowe's restrictions...lol...

Everyday he seems to come home with more shelves...we haven't put anything up on the them, but we have plenty...lol

Actually, he is organizing the garage beautifully.  We'll be using the Christmas containers soon...I'll set the trees up before "collegeboy" gets home for Thanksgiving...with his arm in a sling, I think he'll be able to manage putting the decorations on the trees, but the rest will be up to us....  Speaking of Thanksgiving, working in retail (Lowes)

I have a pretty easy schedule next week.  I'm off  Mon/Wed/Thurs..on Black Fri only scheduled for 6 hrs...pretty good...I can spend so time with the family...we'll be enjoying the "real" lake home, with "sis", her in-laws, and friends...hope the weather is warm for jet-skiing.

...funny to talk about jet-skiing in November.....if it's 70 it'll be too cold for us to get into the water...too funny eh?

With today's economy I thought this quote to be fitting.  Especially from a man of his wealth....I wonder with the markets recent rise & fall how much he is losing? In any?  I guess it would only make the majority of us feel better if he were to lose a few billion....lol

What would I buy with a billion dollars???  The best way to answer that, is....I don't know, give me a billion and let's see....LOL...I know most of us would like to think we would give a lot to various charity organizations...I know I would give to a number of different  children's hospitals across the globe..after that I'm not really sure.....

I'm having a tough time deciding on Xmas right now.  With us moving into our new home, rearranging, cleaning up the clutter, downsizing...I'm not really in the mood to support our economy, but I'm sure "eldest" & "collegeboy" will hand me there wish lists soon, and decide how I should invest...lol

Collegeboy is fine.....

 

Thx for all the warm wishing & prayers for collegeboys recovery....he was a little groggy waking up from surgery, but all is well.  I have yet to talk with him this morning to see how achy he is....they put 3 screws in his shoulder, there was more of a separation than appeared on his MRI.  The surgeon was able to put all back together!

I & the "eldest" have head colds, not much fun around here the next few days.....

Collegeboy surgery

Ok, to follow my own advise..My purpose today...keep positive about "collegeboys" surgery....

today I'm thankful for:....All who are involved in "collegeboys" surgery, Give the Surgeon a steady hand, the anesthesiologist the ability to perform his job 200%, and his friend taking to & from the hospital...   

It will be a long day today, he should be going in soon, all are reported to call and update us ASAP....

I have to work late this afternoon til close.  I should know how his surgery went before I'm due for work.

This is the last day, of a 5 day in a row work schedule...I usually have a kinder schedule, due to the RA and all, but they decided to push the limit this week. It's helpful today to go in later than normal, I can actually relax around the home.   

We're experiencing "weather"...lol

Lot of clouds & little bit of rain in spots...something different the last couple of days.  I think we're normal again tomorrow.

I just had to pass this along, got it from a good buddy in email...I also, have seen this before, but I think it's good info to live by.

What to do? what to do?

Yesterday, I unpacked our photo albums. I haven't touched these boxes since our move to SWFL, so I was a lil reminiscent of our history, family tree, those no longer with us, a smile crept on my face remembering the wonderful times, places and events that had taken place... 1st our eldest ..this pic he's just a couple of months old...handsome dawg aint he?

then I came across a pic of "collegeboy" on his 1st b-day.

He received socks for a b-day present, he was very pleased with the gift, looked up and said...."socks" with his lil hands cupping his poodem face...just as I clicked....cutie!...

I tell ya, this was enough to send me over the edge, into a full crying fit. I even had to call my mom...lol

I'm not sure if I'm really over it today....lol

I love & hate photos, if that is even possible....My sister in law is CM consultant, has crop parties, the whole enchilada! I can't even attempt to be at that level of creativity,...she doesn't expect it either, this is something I put on myself...her albums are gorgeous projects...I have our photos stuffed to the gills in various albums...this only happen within the last few years, before I had them packed in boxes. So, I was very proud of myself to place them in an album. I need to find the TIME, to "reselect" photos, and downsize some more, take our old VHS family videos, convert to dvd disc.....I smell a New Year resolution coming....lol...wonder if I'll commit? hum?

I tried once before to convert the VHS to disc. I became such a blubbering idiot watching the old family movies, I had to stop and regroup... I guess I have put it off long enough, maybe I should try again....but 1st I got to buy some extra boxes of Kleenex....lol

Today is busy work,  preparing all of extra stuff to be disposed of tomorrow.   Hopefully, some (many fingers crossed) will find our unwanted treasures interesting enough to purchase.  I have started a few piles, but today I will tackle this project and be fully prepared to open our doors early in the morn.

Worked wanted to call me in today, and tomorrow, but I gave warning I shall not answer my telephone.  After the garage sale, our beach community is hosting the annual "Sand Castle" event.  We have "professional" builders come display their artistic side with natures material.....these are awesome.  Maybe I'll run down there today, I would love to have the "hubby" drive.  I'll try a convince him. 

I have such a fear driving over the bridge.  I'm somewhat ok, with flat bridges over water, but those high ones....chills run down my spine just thinking about it...

We have curtains hung!  In the dining room and living area....We have the kitchen, family room and all the bedrooms to do next...plus paint is due in the bedrooms as well....I would love to have "theme" rooms.  So this might take me a while, for I need to peruse the design mags for ideas... I still need to take some pics of this new digs, but this will have to wait a lil longer....

"Collegeboys" football team is playing their last regular season game on Saturday....."We Will" (coach's theme this year) defeat our opponent.  To become conference champions....this is huge for these boys...so, lets cheer for the PATRIOTS!

We are so truly blessed in our fine nation.  These next few weeks, in to the new year are going to be exciting, turbulent, and exhausting for our President elect & family.  I pray for their safety, guard their children from any harm,  and for  strength  to carry our nation to be United.

I'm glad election day is here! We all voted!  

The media is so annoying during election season.  I'm glad it will soon be over...

Not much to report on the home front.  Going back to work has been ok.  "Joe" (public) is still grumpy.  I had a gentlemen last night, that was returning a lamp.  He was very angry.  I was in a great mood, smiling, listening to all his concerns.  He asked to see a manager.  My reply, let me get started on returning his item, then I would gladly call a manager over.

 His response, "Quit smiling, this is a serious matter!"

Mine:  "I know, it's serious sir, that's why I'm returning your item, and calling a manager as requested, but I always smile and I will continue to do so"..

His:  ????  What, oh....ok..

I think that sometimes "Joe" (public) enters to do battle, has their plan all laid out in their mind.  When we reply with yes, no problem.  Accepting defeat so willingly.   "Joe" is still advancing on with their battle plan, ignoring their quick step into victory.

Amazing, to be told "Quit smiling", "Stop being happy"...are you kidding me "Joe"?   Never, you may win you little imaginary battles, but I shall win the war!

Extra good news...my "boys" aka STEELERS won there game last night... AT-A-BOYS all around!

and..."Collegeboys" team are ranked #8 in the nation in their division of football, one more game, left in the regular season, they are heading to the playoffs...WTG PATRIOTS!
