Sunshine & happiness

One of my favorite things to do is to eat at restaurants near the water.  This dock is located on the Caloosahatchee River near the Edison estate in Ft Myers.  I recommend the tour.  I blogged about it years ago.   We had reason to celebrate.  Po-boi got a job!!  yippy!!!  His first professional career opportunity job.  No military life for him. Momma's happy about that for sure.  It was a tough decision for him, but I think it will suit his independent spirit a bit better working for a corporation rather than the military.  We are very familiar with the military life, hubby was discharged a few months prior to our wedding.  We decided then we didn't want that as our future. A lil regret...maybe, but none the less our lives have turned out just fine.
Po-boi was so ornery when he was telling me about the job offer.  A few days prior I was on Pinterest looking at some recipes.  I love margaritas, and I saw a recipe that called for lime sorbet and tequila.  I told Po-boi, if you get this job offer, we are going to try this as a celebration drink.  The interview was a hour away in another town, but the job is local.  Anyway he called after his interview saying he thought it went pretty well, but they would call him in a day or two with an answer. I started praying immediately, for safe travels, job outcome you name it.  When he arrives home he gives me a bag.  Inside was the sorbet and tequila.

It took me a moment to understand why he would give me this, then it hit me.  lol  That stinker knew he had the job when he was talking to me, but remembered our conversation a few days prior.   I'm thinking of replacing his nickname with Stink-boi, tho Po-boi might be permanent. He's been on the internet looking at toys....Cars, boats, golf carts, ATV's....lol  I told him to look at BANK ACCTS!!!  lol

Hubby is in another round of negotiations.  This would be an ideal job for him, and just minutes away from the home.  So keeping our fingers crossed for him.

Treasure find...

This picture is a lizard (r) gecko (l) .  Very thoughtful of these guys to be side by side so I could show their differences.  The gecko is lighter, round head, with thicker legs. While the guys were removing some dead bushes around the home, the critters were scattering like crazy.

Our neighbor is moving into an Assisted living facility.  He was dragging this to the curb for trash.  Hubby was outside doing lawn work,  stop to help him.  They got to talking one thing led to another. I have a sewing machine. A 1949 Westinghouse New and Home.  It just needs a lil elbow grease, and sewing oil, but all the parts are there, and it works.  I'm so tickled about this, I do not sew, but I crochet and on occasion have wanted to sew some material on baby afghans Ive made, now I have the opportunity to do so.

Thanks everyone for your comments regarding our current situation. Some days are tougher than others.  We all have our problems to deal with, Im usually more upbeat, and hate when I blog negatively, but none the less I want to truly thank you for your kind words and encouragement.  This too shall pass.

Great advice...

Betty A Bench with a view had some great advice.  First tempt Stella with food, a Corgi's first luv thanks for teaching us Koda, and secondly stop trying so hard.  Great advice!!  Tho cats are so finicky, especially Stella.  She she now makes a puffing sound displaying her disapproval.  I think we are going in the right direction.  The growling/hissing are still present. She becomes very irritable when I giggle at her, which only causes me to laugh harder.  I challenge her, and she me, why we go about so.  lol

Hubby is on another interview, with a different company. I wish someone would just hire him.  The company he would prefer is a major grocery chain, bought out another prior to his unemployment.  He was interviewed, then proceeded forth with salary negotiations, then halted by HR.  They want jobs to go to the bought out chain people 1st, though the Manager felt hubby was the best candidate.  This has left the Manager short an Asst Manager (the position hubby applied) staffed for 3 going on 4 months.   The bought out company was told to apply, but would be competitive.  It's an ugly mess. The Manager is frustrated, hubby is frustrated.  I dont think anything is going to happen with this job.

Po-boi is continuing with recruiter.  He has to take some tests to find out what best job is suited for him.

Im going to make Spicy Ravioli for dinner.
Basically you take frozen Ravioli, boil as directed.  While the ravioli is boiling, saute onions & red or green peppers in a pan. Salt/pepper add extra spices if  you desire. I add cumin.  Drain the ravioli, gently mix into sauted vegs, add salsa. Just enough salsa to coat the ravioli.  Warm up for a couple minutes. Serve with a nice tossed salad, and garlic bread. The guys like this meal, the salsa spices it up nicely.
