Morning Joe....
I got the blood lab results....what I suspected, but did NOT want to hear. Prediabetes...not high enough to say full blown, but not low enough to say no...drats! She ordered another round in Nov, meanwhile I'm to exercise (more) and diet. Which I have been eating healthier about the last 5 years or so, I guess more rabbit food is on the menu for me. I have no sugar per se in my diet but, I do love chocolate cake tho!(lol) Going to try to cut the carbs, no pasta, rice. I read a cook book substituting spaghetti squash for spaghetti noodles, guess I'll try that also, I love potatoes, but they have not been a regular part of my diet for about 3 years now, my RA doesn't like potatoes, it causing swelling & flares if I eat too many, I've learned I don't like pain. I make cauliflower salad, instead of potato salad, not as rich tasting, but the texture is there... I hate that I have become a person that talks about my medical conditions....I need to wrap my head around this stuff. Every day is a battle to mentally prepare a positive outlook, the RA pain, now my blood sugar ....guess I will be living in a bubble bath full of CALGON.
Update on Mutual of Omaha's Wild kingdom (aka our backyard). Another Gator sighting, this one is not as aggressive as the previous dude. He is a watcher tho... It's so creepy, imagine sitting on comfy chair in the lanai, enjoying your morning cup of coffee, when you notice these two beady eyes in the water staring back at you....(chills) Yesterday, a blue heron (similar to the one shown below)

came swooping down, he likes following the Gator, cuz the Gator would cause the fish to swim towards the lakes bank, thus bringing dinner to the Heron. Such a prehistoric sight. I wish I could capture it on film, but these creatures are so elusive. It makes you appreciate the hours of film producers go thru to get one shot of something to show on a television program.
C-boi is settled in, back at college. Senior year, he spent the entire summer away, gosh it has been hard. We are making plans to visit sometime in Oct. It can not come soon enough for me. When he graduates I pray he finds work closer to us. Fingers crossed!
A croaking what????? You don't say....
Seriously, I havent posted in how long????
So much has been happening, but since I haven't taken the time to write anything, I can't remember it!!!! lol
Work, work, work that's all I seem to be doing of late....grr I just need to be a billionaire, a lady of leisure, I'm so good at that, where on earth did I go wrong??? lol Oh, we have a kid in college, that's right.....
I went to the family doc last week. My blood sugar has been acting crazy, so I thought I would make a visit, have the dr order some lab work. As she is checking my ears, nose, and throat, she tells me my glands are swollen, the throat is red & sore, and I have a slight temp. I say, well, I don't feel anything, nothing hurts, she says why would you, you take mega doses anti inflammatory meds for your RA, but trust me you're going to need an antibiotic for this I'm sure. So, I'm like ok, whatever, what about my blood sugar????...We'll order labs for Tues ok?...Ok I say...
So, I was at her office around 11, about, oh I don't know 4:30, I start having difficulty swallowing, then the pain of the tender throat appeared, the slight fever, which I thought was bouts of menopause. I mean really I sweat so often now, I can never really tell the difference...( I know, I know TMI) but come on now, I was only going in for an LAB order...
I go to work the next day, cuz....well I'm an idiot, that's why...I was feeling lousy, I couldn't speak, my throat was raw, I could barely speak above a whisper, dang it I wish I had more "sick" time...
Everyone was teasing me, having me repeat this, repeat that, cuz they could not hear me when I was standing a foot away from them participating in a normal conversation. Though the highlight of the day came when I had to "page" someone to come to the Cust Service desk....I wasn't even thinking, just hit the button, automatically on the phone, started my page when I realized...What in heavens name is that sound coming over the intercom???? Extremely embarrassed, the crew went into high gear harassment after that...I was a whispering, croaking male pubescent teenager on the intercom...even some of the customers stop shopping, looked around, and went What the ______ was that?
Towards the end of my shift, I had one lady thought I was being TOTALLY rude to her, cuz I wasn't talking when I was ringing her up. I would smile, but then I whispered faintly a thank you, after I was done, she realized I was not feeling well, told me I was lucky cuz she wanted to report me to my bosses...I shrug my shoulders like oh well...then she reports me anyway cuz she thought that was inappropriate. Geesh, lady I was being nice opened up a lane for you, just before I was to leave for the day, and that's the thanks I get....geepers!
The next day at work (remember I'm an idiot with no remaining sick time)...I was feeling a ton better, tho still my voice returned some what, (thankfully) so the harassment eased a bit from my colleagues.
Everything was going smoothly, until a customer approach me asked if they I could get them help in aisle 8, sure without hesitation I press the intercom button, begin my "page" ....Customer needs assis.....that is when the croaking, pubescent male teenager decided to return, only this time he WASN'T whispering........
Oi ! where's my CALGON?!!!
